William Ashley born 1913, seen here gilding a Royal Lily plate, joined Worcester in 1928 under Tom Morton doing raised colour and general gilding, his nickname was Biffo. In 1952 he did the Worcester work on the Queen’s Beasts in Stoke and worked on presentation services to the Queen. Foreman of the Printers Department 1953 to 1960 but hated the job, mark (similar to) ‘T’ at first, then WA.
