This fine view appears on Chamberlain porcelain, notably on a vase and dessert ware, a clever means of advertising the factory on porcelain. The Bath Road (the A38) is shown at the Turnpike where dues were collected on entering or leaving the City. The public house on the left is still there and the canal has not yet been constructed.
