How do I book a party at the Museum of Royal Worcester?
As our Paint Your Own Pottery Parties are popular, we recommend booking as far ahead as possible and at least a fortnight in advance. We offer time slots at either 12pm or 2pm from Tuesday till Saturday, and Sundays 11am or 1pm (due to earlier close). Once a date has been found, we will reserve your time slot upon payment of a 50% non refundable deposit. We also require a signed and dated copy of our PYOP Party Terms and Conditions when booking.
Can I bring decorations to my Paint Your Own Pottery Party?
Yes. We love decorations, please bring a few decorations and of course a cake for the celebration.
Can I bring party music?
If you hire the Exhibition Hall for your party food or games, which costs £30, we have a speaker available in the hall which can be hired for £10.
Can I book out the whole of the Museum studio for my party?
When it is available, we can offer the Exhibition Hall as part of your party package, this means you get this whole space to yourself – perfect to do your pottery painting, followed by a few party games and party food. If the hall is not available we will provide an extra table to utilise in our pottery studio space for parents and for serving the cake, however please note other visitors may also be using this space. If you would like to book out the entire pottery studio space this can be arranged for an additional price. Please just ask when making your booking.
Are there kitchen facilities at the Museum?
Sadly we don’t have kitchen facilities to utilise at the Museum. All utensils required (cutlery, plates, cups, napkins etc) will need to be brought to the Museum by the party organiser and taken home afterwards. For hygiene reasons, food can not be served in the PYOP Studio. It can be served in the Exhibition Hall when available. We request that no nuts or nut based foods are brought to the Museum.
Can I leave children unattended during the party?
We love children, but we do ask that there is at least two supervising adults present (per painting table of up to 6 children) for the duration of the party. The PYOP tables are organised in tables of six.
Are refreshments available at the Museum?
We have a selection of hot and cold drinks available to purchase from the Studio on the day of the party, along with cartons of Cawston Press children’s drinks, please ask when booking. Our caterer can also provide children’s party food packages (at an additional cost) which might save you the job of making lots of sandwiches – please ask when making your booking.
When will our party pottery be ready?
Once you and your guests have finished painting, you will leave the item in our capable hands. We will glaze and fire them in our kiln. Colours will become richer, and your item will have a hard shiny clear surface – which is food safe.
We need up to 21 days to glaze and fire. We will then contact you by phone to let you know your items are ready for collection. We can also charge postage to post items to one address only.
