Description

A pair of large vases and covers painted in white enamel over an underglaze blue ground. Rich tooled and chased gilding. Each has two handles in the form of golden eagles. The four scenes illustrated are 1) Harold’s oath of fidelity to William 2) Harold’s coronation as king of England 3) William’s decent on England and 4) The battle of Hastings and death of Harold.
