Mugs produced with designs by Evesham Vale Welcomes Refugees women's group

Evesham Welcomes Refugees women’s group have enjoyed creative heritage outreach sessions linked to our collections with local artist Fliss. She said

“The classes have offered a focus and and opportunity to have somewhere to go and something to do that isn’t related to the difficulties they face, taking pride in the work they produce and having the chance to socialise and relax and support each other. It’s been a joy to see smiling faces and such creative energy in the room.”

Group leader Audrey said:

“the project had a positive impact on those who took part. Fliss led the sessions with skill, warmth and professionalism.  She encouraged us all to try new things and learn new skills which built confidence and gave a sense of achievement week by week. We produced art work, clay Christmas decorations and had our designs printed onto mugs as keepsakes.”

The group also enjoyed a visit to the Museum and a beautiful card-making workshop with original Royal Worcester flower-maker Avril.

Thank you to Worcestershire Community Foundation for supporting our outreach projects last year.  This meant we were able to run creative wellbeing workshops with Riverbank children’s ward at Worcester Royal Hospital, young adults with learning disabilities at Perdiswell Young People’s Club, Aspie, dementia cafes and Ukrainians Worcestershire.
