Join us online on zoom for this special event hosted by the Friends of the Museum of Royal Worcester as taster of our annual Friends membership.
7.00pm Enjoy Gin and Tonic by local distillery Piston Gin
Piston Gin’s London Dry Gin and tonic mixer with selection of botanicals will be sent to you by post, enjoy your drink with a short talk by Distillery Manager Grace Stringer including remote tour of distillery and demonstration of process.
7.30pm Welcome by Museum Director
7.40pm Illustrated talk on the Marshall collection of Worcester porcelain in the Ashmolean Museum by Rosalind Sword
Prominent in the ceramic galleries at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is the Marshall collection of over 1000 items of early coloured Worcester.
Rosalind Sword, author of the two-volume catalogue of the Marshall collection, will introduce us to this very significant collection. We will see some of its treasures, learn about Henry Marshall and his approach to collecting and how this moved forward the understanding of Worcester porcelain at the time.
