The striking design is taken from a 1931 watercolour and pencil sketch of ‘Cat eating’ animal figure modelled by Stella Crofts (1898-1964) for Royal Worcester.

Stella Crofts was a British ceramic sculptor trained at Central St. Martins 1916-22 specialising in animals, with an emphasis on their movement and character. Royal Worcester licensed several of her designs for their porcelain models in the 1930s.
