Celebrate 2026 Year of the Horse in Worcester!

Worcester’s popular Chinese New Year celebrations are taking place on Sunday 22 February, 11am – 3pm at the Museum of Royal Worcester and Henry Sandon Hall, Royal Porcelain Works on Severn Street. 

Museum of Royal Worcester has a special discounted entry of only £3.50pp, Under 2s free. We recommend to Book in advance. There is so much to enjoy:

👨‍👩‍👧 A warm, inclusive atmosphere

🦁 Spectacular traditional Lion Dance on Severn Street at 12.30pm FREE

🎶 Chinese musicians and cultural performances in Henry Sandon Hall, all day – FREE

✂️ Arts and crafts creative activities for children and families

✍️ Chinese calligraphy

📚 Storytelling (10:00 – 10:30; 11:00 – 11:30; 13:45 – 14:15)

✍️ Wordplay and black out poetry by Worcestershire Litfest (11.00-13.00)

🎨 Pottery-painting Horses, Pandas, Lions, a memento to bring good fortune and ‘rebirth’ (12.15 and 14.15)

☕️ Tea tasting all day and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony (10:15 – 10:45; 11:30 – 12:00; 14:30 – 15:00)

There is a Quiet Hour at the Museum from 10am-11am for visitors with neuro-diversity or health conditions who would benefit from participating when it is less busy.

We look forward to welcoming the whole of our Worcestershire community on Sunday 22 February 2026 to celebrate Chinese New Year in Worcester.

Please note this is a very busy event attracting 2,000 people last year, so we have introduced timed entry to manage visitor flow at the Museum. Just show your visitor wristband at the entrance for unlimited re-entry during our opening hours.

Worcestershire Chinese Association and educational charity Engage with China are delighted to team up again with Museum of Royal Worcester, Royal Porcelain Works, Christopher Whitehead Language College and GoodRoots, to celebrate 2026 Year of the Horse in style with you!

Worcestershire Chinese Association was established by Chairman Frankie Tsang in 1999 as a non-profit, voluntary and community organisation to bridge language and understanding between Chinese and local communities.
