FAMILY SUMMER FUN DAY 2024 AT THE MUSEUM OF ROYAL WORCESTER
Join us on Wednesday 14 August 2024, £3.50 per person for our summer fun day inspired by the colourful summer fruits painted and served on Worcester porcelain, suitable for all ages.
Quiet Hour from 10-11am for anyone who would like to take part in creative fun but prefers a quieter atmosphere.
Enjoy lots of fun, creative and sensory activities including Summer-Fruits-themed pottery painting, clay-modelling, fruity tea-tasting and more. Summer fun day visitors can enjoy demonstrations of ceramic techniques by former Royal Worcester artists and get close to examples of Worcester porcelain from our handling collection.
NEW THIS YEAR: Award-winning food historian and chef, Dr Neil Buttery, will be leading an ice cream and sorbet workshop, demonstrating how iced desserts were made before refrigeration and freezers had been invented. Have a turn at hand churning and moulding fruit sorbets using vintage equipment, and taste some traditional flavours enjoyed in the Victorian era. Explore the beautiful Worcester porcelain that was used to present these delicious ices.
Worcestershire Litfest poets will also be offering a range of fruit-themed wordplay activities including poetry based on our new food history displays, a collaborative Open Day poem, and more. Discover porcelain factory founder, Dr. Wall’s Dinner and Georgian dining table display as well as the ‘Dessert Course’ bringing to life the fruit and drink eaten off Worcester porcelain. You can also explore our Sensory Trail with hands, noses and ears!
Paint Your Own Pottery: why not add-on a special paint-a-pot experience as part of the day for a small additional charge – you can paint a flower pot or pair of coasters with your own unique ‘Summer Fruits’ inspired design and we’ll glaze and fire for you to collect later.
Summer Fun Day tickets are just £3.50 per person (under 6s go free), for a day full of creative and sensory activities. Paint A Flower Pot or pair of coasters for an additional charge.
The Museum is located in the heart of historic Worcester, close to parking, local cafes and river side walks. We look forward to seeing you soon.
