Visit us at the Museum of Royal Worcester and discover the extraordinary stories of the workers and artists who skilfully made the objects and the celebrity customers who enjoyed them. Enjoy interactive displays, and family explorer trails in our stunning galleries, completely refurbished in 2018.
You’ll see some of the earliest porcelain made in England and iconic objects like Admiral Lord Nelson’s breakfast teapot, and the famous Evesham oven-to-tableware.
We’re minutes from the historic centre of Worcester with its cathedral, independent shops, and riverside walks along the Severn.
VISITING WITH CHILDREN
We are passionate about sharing the treasures of the Museum with younger people, and welcome children and families to explore our Sensory Trail with hands, ears and noses. We have lots of family friendly interactives to make your visit fun, so children can learn in a playful way. Find out more about our children’s activities.
Our Paint- Your-Own- Pottery Studio is popular with adults and children, including for birthday parties. Enjoy your Museum visit and be inspired to paint a pot in our studio or with one of our home kits.
Getting Here
Visiting the Museum of Royal Worcester is easy. We are located close to the Cathedral, nearby parking, and just a short walk from the high street.
If you are using SatNav or GPS, enter postcode: WR1 2NE for the most accurate location.
There is plenty of pay and display parking adjacent to the Museum on Severn Street and Kings Street Car Park. We have cycle racks and offer free coach parking for pre-booked group visits. There is also free street parking for 3 hours on Severn Street with a blue badge. Worcester City Car Parks take cash or you can use the RingGo parking app.
- From the High Street, walk towards the Cathedral
- After the Elgar statue, cross the street with the roundabout on your left hand side
- Turn left and walk along College Street until you pass the Cathedral
- Turn right onto College Precincts
- Go down the steps onto Severn Street and you will see the Museum in front of you. Continue walking until you see the courtyard entrance on the left hand side. Entry is on the left hand side (opposite GoodRoots cafe).
- From Worcester Foregate Street Station, turn left into Foregate Street and continue to the end of the High Street towards the Cathedral
- From here follow the City Centre walking directions
- Exit the Bus station through the doors towards Angel Place
- Follow Angel Street and turn right after ‘Subway’ onto The Cross and High Street
- Continue to the end of the High Street towards the Cathedral
- From here follow the City Centre walking directions
From M5, Junction 7, take the A44 exit to Worcester (S).
- At the roundabout, take the exit onto Whittington Road, following signs for Worcester City Centre
- At the roundabout, take the second exit onto London Road/A44 and stay in the left lane. Continue to follow A449, go through 2 roundabouts and continue down hill on London Road towards the City Centre
- After 1.2 miles, turn left into Edgar Street (signposted one-way)
- Follow the road round as it bears to your left and you will see the Museum in front of you
- At the T-junction turn left onto King Street and King Street pay and display car park is on your left side
From A449 Kidderminster
- Follow signs for Worcester A449
- Follow this road into Worcester for approx. 2 miles until you come to a set of T-junction traffic lights, turn to the right
- Turn left into St Mary’s Street, signposted Tewkesbury A38
- Take the first right into Sansome Walk/A38. Follow this road to a junction
- At the T- Junction stay in the right lane and cross over to the lane to take you straight on at the traffic lights
- Follow to the next roundabout. At the roundabout stay in the right lane to go straight over into City Walls Road staying in the right lane
- Approaching a set of traffic lights the lane splits into two – stay in the left lane
- Take the road directly opposite the lights into Edgar Street (signposted one-way). Follow the road round as it bears to your left and you will see the Museum in front of you
- At the T-junction turn left onto King Street and King Street pay and display car park is on your left side
From A4103 Hereford
- Approaching the first Worcester roundabout (joining the A44), take the third exit following signs for the M5
- Go straight over the second and third roundabouts taking you onto the A4440. At the fourth roundabout take a slip road to the left sign-posted Worcester City Centre A38
- Now follow the directions below
From A44 Leominster and Bromyard
- Take A44 to Worcester until you reach the A4440
- At the first roundabout sign posted Worcester City Centre A38, take the slip road to the left off the roundabout
- Now follow the directions below
From A449 Great Malvern and Ross
- Take A449 Worcester. At Worcester roundabout take a right onto the A4440
- At the next roundabout take the slip road to the left sign-posted Worcester City Centre A38
- Go straight over the next small roundabout and follow that road for approx. 1 mile
- Approaching a set of traffic lights, stay in the left lane for City Centre A38, turning to the left at the lights staying in the left lane
- At the next set of lights take an immediate left onto Edgar Street (sign posted King Street/ One-way). Follow the road round as it bears to your left (you will see the Museum in front of you)
- At the T-junction turn left onto King Street and King Street pay and display car park is on your left side

Advance booking is only required if you are planning a group visit for 20 people or more, or if you are interested in a refreshment package or arranging one of our talks for groups.

The 19th century gallery (The first floor), exhibition hall and disabled toilet is currently accessible to wheelchairs users. We have two free wheelchairs which can be used for your visit subject to availability.
Blue Badge holders are entitled to park free for 3 hours in Severn Street adjacent to the Museum. Read more here
Please note there is a gentle slope between the Shop and the Museum’s introductory film area.
Lower lighting areas include the introductory film area and the stairs from the ground to the first floor galleries.
We advise visitors to allow a minimum of 60-90 minutes for visiting.
No, unfortunately we do not have any secure storage for vistors’ bags or coats.
There is no cafe at the Museum, however we do offer a range of pre-booked refreshment packages for group visits please ask us about our ‘refreshment packages’ .
For individuals and families just across the courtyard is Good Roots, who offer a wide range of snacks and light meals all locally sourced. The Diglis House Hotel has a restaurant and bar and is a short walk away with views of the River Severn and less than 10 minutes walk in the other direction are many more independent cafes as well as Cathedral Square.

The nearest parking to the Museum is the on-street pay and display parking bays on Severn Street and King Street car park. Slightly further away is Commandery Road carpark and Clare Street multi-storey. For up-to-date information please see Worcester City Website. Blue badge holders are entitled to 3 hours’ free parking on Severn Street adjacent to the Museum.
Yes. In the Museum Shop you will find an abundance of vintage Royal Worcester china that was made here at the Severn Street factory site. We also stock a selection of new Royal Worcester and high quality cards and prints. You can browse and buy some of our ranges in our online ‘Gift Shop’. The Shop is at the Museum entrance so you can visit the Shop without buying a ticket for the Museum.
The Royal Worcester Severn Street factory closed in 2009. The Visitor Centre, Café and Seconds Shop closed with the factory.
