Sculpture unveiling

A major new public artwork celebrating the worldwide legacy of Royal Worcester porcelain has been officially unveiled at the city’s historic former factory site. Commissioned by Worcester City Council, the Museum of Royal Worcester, and the Royal Porcelain Works, The Vessel sculpture by artists musson+retallick stands outside Henry Sandon Hall. Inspired by porcelain shards excavated from the original grounds, the piece serves as a beautiful conceptual container for the memories shared by former factory workers.

The centrepiece is complemented by an innovative Hallmark Trail around the historic grounds. Visitors can scan wall-mounted plaques to listen to sound collages of factory life, supported by The Porcelain Podcasts created by Nunnery Wood High School students. Unveiled by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, the project was funded via a planning contribution from Berkeley Homes’ Waterside development with interactive support from the Bransford Trust.

The free trail is now open off Severn Street, and full details regarding the sculpture, trail, and podcast project can be found on our website here.
